Title Flying
Fandom Stargate: Atlantis
Pairing Gen, John/Elizabeth friendship
Rating G
Summary She'd always loved feeling like she was flying.
She'd always loved feeling like she was flying. It didn't matter how she got there; on a swing or a bike as a kid or in a car with the top down as an adult, it didn't matter. that rush of air that tossed her hair around, that she could lean into and feel supported was all she really needed to turn her day around. She had probably missed that the most during her time at the SGC, being stuck inside, underground all the time.
That all changed when she got to Atlantis. She discovered early on that if she escaped to the right balconies, she could close her eyes, spread her arms out and lean over the rails slightly and that constant wind from the ocean would catch her and give her a momentary escape from the pressures of work.
He'd caught her doing this once. He'd stood quietly in the door way, just watching her as she enjoyed the wind. He cocked his head to the side as the wind picked up her loose curls and tossed them around her face. She kept her eyes closed, a pleased smile on her face and he found that he couldn't bring himself to interrupt her, so he waited and took a simple pleasure from her own joy.
"John," she said, more than a little startled to see him watching her.
"Next time we're on Earth," he said as he walked over to her. "I'll take you flying in a fast car," he smirked, handing her her computer table with Rodney's latest notes. They shared a look and a smirk before he turned and left and, with a sigh, she headed back into her office to work.
