Fandom Stargate: Atlantis
Paring Elizabeth/John friendship. More if you squint.
Summary I don't think that General O'Neill would accept 'He's a giant prick and I don't like him.' as a reason.
Notes A dive by comment fic for [livejournal.com profile] anuna_81 who was having a moment.

"I hate him!"

"You don't hate him."

"I do," Elizabeth said, not even bothering to hide the venom in her voice. "I hate that smug little smile and his pinched nose and that ridiculous pony tail! Isn't there some kind of dress code? Should he have had to cut it?"

John watched her pace around the room for a moment as he considered his next answer.

"There is a dress code, but it really only applies to the military personnel," he finally answered. "Though, I suppose if you really wanted to, you could put your foot down about it." Elizabeth stopped her pacing to turn and send a glare in John's direction. He sighed a little before he kept going. "You are the leader here," he pointed out. "Transfer him back to Earth."

"I need a valid reason and I don't think that General O'Neill would accept 'He's a giant prick and I don't like him.' as a reason."

"I don't know about that," John said as he finally stood up and walked over to her. "He seems like a taker of no bull shit to me." Elizabeth sighed hard and stopped pacing as he felt John's hands grasp her arms. He looked her int he eye and instructed her to take a deep breath, which she did. She stared at him for a moment longer, trying to hold on to her anger and frustration over Kavanaugh but felt it melt away as he continued to keep his gaze locked on her.

"I hate you right now," she said as she allowed herself to lean forward and rest her forehead against his chest.

"No you don't," he said with a smile as he wrapped his arms around her and held her close, allowing her a moment to simply be a frustrated woman instead of a frustrated leader.

"Yes I do," she assured him again. "Why can't you just let me be mad at him?"

"Because you'll regret it later," John replied calmly. He let his hands run up and down her back a little longer until she pulled away. He could see the command mask slipping back into place, her tantrum over for the time being.

"I hate it when you don't play fair Colonel," she said.

"I aim to please," he said, tossing her a cocky smile before stepping back gesturing for her to lead the way back into the city and back to work.

Sweet, I like it when Elizabeth actually gets mad. John was right, though, Jack would totally consider it a valid reason even if he couldn't put it on the paperwork.

Also, you're layout amaaaazing right now. I hadn't seen it before.

Thanks, a friend made it for me. I believe I celebrated the unveiling with "LOOK AT SAM CARTER BEING A BAMF ALL OVER MY LAYOUT!!!!!"
