"I'm scared of what this means when a ship shows up," she said quietly as they laid together in the long grass. He pulled her a little more tightly against his side as she talked. "Of what this will mean for our careers, for the team."

"Hammond won't leave SG-1 the way it is until we get back," he said softly. "He'll farm Daniel and Teal'c out to other teams or assign two new members. And don't worry about our careers," he finished, laying a trail of soft kissed along her neck and collar bone.

"Why shouldn't I?" she asked. "I love my job, I don't want to loose that."

"You won't."

"How are you so sure about that?"

"I just am," he said calmly. He sounded so sure that she really just wanted to believe he was right, that everything was going to work out perfectly for them.

"Jack. . . " she started, pulling away from him a little.

"Sam, relax," he tried to sooth her, though he did loosen his hold on her slightly. "The ship is still months away, if it's coming at all. I'm not going to let you freak out and stress and over think this." She sighed and relaxed against him but he knew that her mind was still reeling. "And if you are going to insist on stressing and freaking out and over thinking this, do it out loud, ok?" They were both in this together and if she was going to worry about consequences, he would worry along with her.

"I'm not just worried about me," she finally said after a moment. "I am worried about you too, about your career, your reputation."

"Thank you, but you don't have too," he assured her. Silence fell over them, broken only by the little birds and insects, as they simply enjoyed each others company and the feel of the sunshine on them. "If I had known we were going to be gone this long, I would have brought more snacks." She chuckled at him before pulling away slightly, to gather her clothes and get dressed. The late afternoon had turned into evening and the temperature was starting to drop.

The dressed and walked slowly back to town, her hand firmly clasped in his, simply enjoying the scenery as they walked.

"Are you happy?" he asked her.

"Yes," she replied without thinking about it. "You?"

"Very," he replied. As they came to the edge of town, Matar and his wife called out a greeting from his field. Jack called back a greeting for both he and Sam before continuing on their way.

"Well, it's about time," his wife said as she watched them wander by.

"About time for what?" Matar asked absently, his attention focused on the soil in his hand as he tried to decide if he should plow in some compost or not.

"Never mind," she said with a smile, tugging on his arm until he let the soil fall to the ground and followed her home.
